Equipping every team with the essentials for a great season!!!

The Lower Columbia Softball Association would like to extend a huge thank you to Shoppers Drug Mart (Trail) for their incredibly generous donation.

Thanks to their support, each of our teams will be equipped with first aid kits and ice packs for the upcoming season—something that plays a big role in keeping our athletes safe on and off the field.

They truly went above and beyond by also including saline solution, which was an unexpected and greatly appreciated addition.

Your generosity and support for our athletes and community means so much to us. Thank you for helping make our season safer and stronger! ��

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!

The Lower Columbia Softball Association would like to send a MASSIVE thank you to the volunteer who organized a work day at the fields and helped get them looking so great.

This volunteer coordinated with the Village, gathered additional people and equipment, and played a huge part in getting the fields ready for the 2026 season.

And to everyone who showed up, jumped in, got their hands dirty, and put in the time and effort — YOU are what makes this association so special . The energy, teamwork, and willingness to help did not go unnoticed, and it made a huge impact.

We are beyond grateful for each and every one of you! ��

Association-Wide Practice Night!

We’re excited to kick off the 2026 season with a fun, action-packed evening.

�� Location: Kootenay-Columbia Learning Center

This is a great opportunity for players and families to get back and touch grass, meet their teams, and start the season off with energy and excitement!

What to Expect:

Meet & greet with your teammates and amazing volunteer coaches
Fun team practice drills for all age groups
Player number selection – pick your number for the season!
Equipment sign-out station
Volunteer sign-up booth (we’d love your help!)
Overview of 2026 Softball BC rule updates, including fair play guidelines

Lower Columbia Softball is powered by volunteers, and we are always looking for parents and family members who are willing to lend a hand. From helping at events to supporting teams, there are many ways to get involved.

What does it entail, you ask?

2026 Season Looking Forward

What worked for us last year was:

One practice per week
Two games per week
We try to stay away from Fridays.
Last year, games ran roughly from 5pm-8pm (this is a broad time frame)
5:00pm for a small practice before the game. Games started at 5:30. Depending on the age group, they ended around 7:30pm
We had some away games in Castlegar and Salmo, and home games in BV and Montrose.
We ran fall ball from Sept - October
We ran Winter indoor skills training.

What is new this year:

We are hoping to book a field in Trail to start team practices as early as April.
We have applied to have two fields at the BV location. (next to the concession and by the arena).
As an idea, we will have U15 & U17 in Montrose and U9-U13 in BV.
We brought to the planning group the idea of more evenly spreading the games across teams (so you don’t play the same team over and over).
We are working on NEW JERSEYS!
We are connecting with the Village of Fruitvale to hopefully improve the fields with some help from volunteers

House House Was a Success!

We had an amazing time at our LCSA Open House this past week! It was wonderful to see so many families, players, and community members come out to meet our coaches, learn about the upcoming season, and just enjoy being part of the softball community.

�� Highlights from the Day

Meet & Greet with Coaches – Our coaches were thrilled to meet returning players and welcome new families. It was great to see smiles, excitement, and lots of questions about the season ahead.
Gear Demos & Mini Clinics – Players got a chance to try out bats, gloves, and practice a few skills. The energy on the "field" was contagious!
Registration Assistance – Several families took care of their registrations on the spot, and we were happy to help answer all questions about age divisions, fees, and payment options.
Community Connection – It was fantastic to see everyone connecting, sharing stories, and meeting fellow softball enthusiasts. That’s what LCSA is all about!
